Our Culture

What is it like to work at the American Bible Society? We aim to create a working environment in which all individuals can express and develop their unique talents in service to colleagues and the people, churches and ministries we seek to benefit through our Scripture-based programs.

We believe that:

  • A work-life balance is necessary for talented people to achieve their maximum potential.
  • Every person has unique and important talents, but it is when working as a team that we reach our true individual and organizational potential.
  • To be an effective organization, each of us must take responsibility for our own actions and development.
  • Mutual trust and respect based on open and honest dialogue between every staff member is essential for a strong working partnership.
  • Performance is measured by one standard: Are my daily efforts worthy of the contributions and sacrifices of our donors?

We believe that we can help bring out the best in people when they are fully engaged in meaningful work that is aligned with their personal calling.

What We Do

The American Bible Society has helped to provide Scriptures to people and ministries around the world since 1816, both directly and through our ministry partners.

Our staff works on a variety of programs aimed at connecting people with the Scriptures, raises funds for worldwide Scripture distribution, sells Scriptures to raise additional funds for projects and provides administrative infrastructure and technical support.
